Iran Launches Missile Strikes in Northern Iraq and Syria, Claiming Destruction of Israeli Spy Base On Monday, Iran's Revolutionary Guard released ballistic missiles towards what it proclaimed was an espionage base for the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, located in northern Iraq, as well as against "anti-Iran terrorist groups" in Syria. This surge in aggression fuels the potential for a more pervasive regional conflict.

(CNN) -- The Revolutionary Guard from Iran launched ballistic missiles on Monday, aimed at what they identified as a spy base for the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, located in northern Iraq, and toward “anti-Iran terrorist groups” in Syria. This marks an upswing in belligerent behaviors, increasing the chances of a broader regional conflict unfurling.

The United States condemned the attacks as "reckless" and imprecise.

CNN reached out to the office of Israel's prime minister for comments about the IRGC's allegation.

A large villa belonging to a well-known Kurdish businessman was also annihilated, as reported by a CNN journalist in the region. There were unverified reports of casualties on the residential property, although it remains unclear if the building was a predetermined target.

"This blatant violation undermines the sovereignty of the Kurdistan region and of Iraq,” stated the Security Council in its statement, accusing Iran of utilizing baseless pretexts to assault Erbil, a historically stable region that poses no threat, according to them.
