  • In a conversation with TMZ, John Oliver remarked on Elon Musk's perceptible sensitivity.
  • Musk's ongoing disagreement with Oliver follows an episode of "Last Week Tonight" where the comedian lampooned him.
  • Oliver reiterated to TMZ his belief in Musk's sensitivity, stating it as a fact he's observed.
John Oliver professed his bafflement over Elon Musk's continued animosity towards him. "If you're trying to understand, I believe you'll need to personally ask him. From my perspective, he appears to be easily affected," Oliver commented about Musk in his discussion with TMZ on Monday. Oliver surmised, without claiming to understand Musk's motivations or state of mind, "His apparent sensitivity, to me, seems undeniable." Following an instance in Oliver's HBO show, "Last Week Tonight," where he humorously assessed Musk's public actions and business choices, Musk harshly criticized the British comedian. The episode in question, which aired in December, entertainingly examined Musk's public posturing and entrepreneurial decisions. In a poignant statement on January 2, Musk denounced Oliver, "It is a shame that a thoroughly competent comedian like @iamjohnoliver has become rather inoffensive." Musk then posited an explanation for Oliver's apparent decline in humor, "His desire to conform to the fad of political correctness, which fundamentally lacks truth, compromises good humor which necessitates authenticity." In response to Musk's accusation of conforming to 'wokeness,' Oliver expressed his confusion during his interview with TMZ. "I highly doubt he could clearly define that term, which seems meaningless to me. I honestly don't comprehend his point," Oliver attested. John Oliver garnered two Emmy Awards on Monday for his contributions to "Last Week Tonight." Since 2016, his work on the series has netted him an impressive total of 16 Emmys.
