Increased user engagement has been observed on the platform known as 'X', which was formerly Twitter and is currently helmed by Elon Musk, surpassing even its primary competitors, Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook and Instagram maintain an impressive user base, though an unexpected shift occurred in December, with 'X' drawing in a larger quantity of user visits.
Musk recently publicized a table with data showing this trend on 'X'. The data, believed to be sourced from SimilarWeb, comprised the total number of visits, individual visitors, and the average usage duration by each visitor.
The table showed a comparison of the visitation records of Facebook, Instagram, and 'X'. According to it, Facebook experienced a 3.97% drop in its 18 billion visits over the period in consideration. Instagram also saw a decrease of 1.77% in its 7.6 billion visits. However, 'X' rose up to a 7.2% increase with 9.1 billion recorded visits.
Taking unique visitors into account, 'X' seemed to have an upper hand against Meta’s platforms. Unique visitor count on 'X' increased by nearly 4.19%, while Facebook saw a decrease of 2.9% and Instagram fell by 0.14%.
The average duration of visit also increased significantly for 'X'. Users spent an average of 24 minutes per session, which exhibited a 34% increase. Comparatively, Facebook users spent an average of 22 minutes, and Instagram users spent 18 minutes per session.
This data led to the observation that user preference is gravitating more towards the 'X' platform. It would be interesting to observe whether this trend continues in the future.
